mom's trip to alaska

Created by diana 10 years ago
Mom has always wanted to go to Alaska since our dad had went there on tankers. So, finally her wish came true. in Sept 2006, Dan and I were able to fly us into Anchorage and enjoy a 3 day ground tour into the tundra. We enjoyed many sites while on the bus ride, which resulted in mom being the main attraction. even though she would run late or get lost, everyone on the tour but just loved her and her caring smile. Then it was time to get on the ship. Mom really didn't like the idea of being on a boat because of her balance, but she got her sea legs. Moms favorite place on the ship was the top floor with a 360 view. She could sit anywhere and see the awesome view of the water and islands. our cruise had several stops which included excursions. we panned for gold and eagle and bird watching high on a mountain. looked at the glacier, went to see dead man pass. dog sled ride. Then went to a cooking class, awesome flower garden and went shopping at each port. arrived in Vancouver Canada and flew back into Portland for a long needed rest. Brother Don said she talked about that trip all the time. I'm glad we were able to spend that time with her
